Bronco Shop PRIVACY POLICY

Who we are — Bronco Shop is the official Boise State University bookstore and retail destination for students, alumni, fans, and visitors. Our mission is to foster academic success for the Boise State community; purchases help fund scholarships and Boise State University.

Scope — This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use Bronco Shop websites, apps, and in-store services. These policies are applicable to Bronco Shop services only and are not representative of other systems managed by Boise State University or any other third parties.

1) Notice at Collection: what we collect and why

We collect the categories below for the purposes stated. Examples are illustrative, not exhaustive.

Identifiers (name, email, phone, postal address, account ID; device/IP for online use) — account creation/management, orders, support, security/fraud, compliance.
Commercial information (orders, returns, cart, preferences) — transact, customer service, analytics, inventory.
Payment info (via PCI-DSS compliant processors; we do not store full card numbers) — take payment, refunds/chargebacks.
Internet or device activity (cookies, pixel/SDK data, pages viewed, approximate location, browser/device) — operate the site, remember preferences, measure performance, contextual improvements.
Geolocation (approximate) — localize content and detect fraud.
Inferences — personalize content/offers.
User-generated content (reviews, messages) — operate community features and moderate content.
Employment/applicant (if you apply for jobs) — process applications and comply with law.

2) Sources

Directly from you (checkout, account, support), automatically via cookies/SDKs, from Boise State University systems as needed to provide Services, and from service providers/partners (payment, shipping, analytics, marketing).

3) Use of information

Provide, personalize, and improve the Services; process orders/returns.
Communicate with you (service messages, transactional emails/SMS; marketing with consent where required).
Security/fraud prevention; debugging; analytics; research; compliance with law and university policy.

4) Disclosures

We disclose information to: (a) service providers and contractors who process data under our instructions; (b) Boise State University (e.g., scholarship reporting, financial reconciliation, or where university systems are used); (c) third parties as required by law or to protect rights and safety; and (d) analytics partners to measure performance. We do not sell personal information for money, we do not “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use targeted advertising.

5) Cookies & similar technologies

We use cookies and similar tools to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and analyze traffic. You can control cookies through your browser settings and platform controls. Disabling non-essential cookies may affect site features.

6) Data retention

Orders, payments, and tax records: up to 7 years (or longer as required by law/audit).
Accounts: kept while active; if inactive, deleted or de-identified after ~3 years of no activity.
Marketing/subscriptions: until you unsubscribe or after ~3 years of inactivity.
Security/logs: typically 12–24 months unless needed for investigations or legal holds.

7) Children & students

Our Services are for general audiences and not for children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent, and we honor applicable student privacy rules (e.g., FERPA) when interacting with Boise State University systems.

8) Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including TLS encryption in transit and restricted access. While no method is perfect, we align with Boise State security policies on systems we operate on their behalf.

9) Your privacy rights (U.S.)

Depending on where you live (e.g., CA, CO, CT, DE, IN, IA, MT, NJ, OR, TN, TX, UT, VA, MN as effective), you may have rights to: access/know; correct; delete; data portability; and appeal a decision. We will not discriminate against you for exercising rights.

10) Financial incentives & loyalty programs

We do not offer loyalty programs or financial incentives in exchange for personal information. If that changes, we will update this policy with program terms and provide an opt-in and opt-out at any time.

11) Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page when our practices change. Material changes will be highlighted at the top and, where required, we’ll seek consent.

Bronco Shop WEBSITE TERMS OF USE

These Terms (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the websites, mobile features, and in-store digital services provided by Bronco Shop (the “Site”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1) Ownership & license

All Site content (text, images, logos, product data, software, look-and-feel) is owned by Bronco Shop, Boise State University, licensors, or partners and protected by law. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to access and use the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes.

2) Your account

You’re responsible for your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of unauthorized use.

3) Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) interfere with the Site’s operation; (b) bypass security or access controls; (c) use scraping/harvesting tools without written permission; (d) upload malicious code; (e) misrepresent your identity; or (f) use the Site in violation of law or university policy.

4) Product info, pricing & availability

We work hard for accuracy but do not guarantee that product descriptions, images, pricing, or availability are error-free. We may correct errors, update information, or cancel orders (with a refund) if an error is discovered.

5) Orders, shipping, risk of loss

Orders are offers to buy; we accept by shipping or otherwise confirming. Risk of loss passes to you upon our carrier’s delivery. Title passes when required by law or when payment clears.

6) Returns & exchanges

Returns/exchanges follow the policy posted on our Site, which we may update from time to time.

7) Reviews & submissions

If you post content, you grant Bronco Shop a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, and display that content in connection with the Site and our business. Don’t post unlawful, infringing, or offensive content.

8) Third-party links & services

Some features rely on third parties (e.g., payment, shipping, analytics) or link to Boise State systems. We are not responsible for third-party sites or services; their terms and privacy notices apply.

9) Disclaimers; limitation of liability

The Site and content are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties not expressly stated. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bronco Shop and Boise State University will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits/revenues, arising from or related to your use of the Site.

10) Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bronco Shop, Boise State University, and their employees/agents from claims arising out of your misuse of the Site or violation of these Terms.

11) Governing law; venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, with exclusive venue in the state or federal courts located in Ada County, Idaho.

12) Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the revised Terms.
